Establishing a sport or fitness routine to avoid the metro-work-sleep cycle has become one of the main challenges of contemporary city life ... The ideal activity would be a fitness session with no major impact on the joints, with movements that rectify our postures so we’re less homo sapien and more homo macbook ... a peaceful place to strengthen our muscles in a fun atmosphere and under the guidance of a benevolent coach.
A great studio and superior training
This rare jewel that we’re describing to you is the Pilates Success studio where Marie-Christine and her canine acolyte Denver welcomed us to demonstrate the benefits of pilates in their Basin street studio. Pilates - inspired by a combination of table gymnastics, boxing, dance and yoga - is designed to strengthen the trunk muscles, improve posture through stretching movements and better balance and breathing.
The trainer behind Pilates Success
Marie-Christine is an entrepreneur at heart who has combined her bachelor's degree in Business Administration with her passion for sports, health and coaching. And her skills do not end there: trained and specialized south of the border in table pilates, she is also a certified Paddle Board and Surfset instructor.
Beyond these certifications, Marie-Christine is a passionate trainer who offers her patience, encouragement and smiles to all... beginners, children, young professionals or acrobatic experts!
Balancing body and soul for a healthy life
The Pilates Success studio, bathed in beautiful light from the edge of the Lachine Canal, is equipped with tables on which Marie-Christine has us spread out and stretch from head to toe! This equipment, such as the Reformer, Cadillac, split pedal chair and the Pilates Barrel, support your movements, but don’t be fooled, you’ll feel your muscles working after a only few exercises!
Private or semi-private sessions are offered. The coach prefers to devote all her attention to small groups of people to ensure a safe pilates workout and to benefit from her expertise in an optimal way. Toned muscles and focus guaranteed!
Surf & Shape courses are offered in small groups. The purpose of these sessions is to work on and maximize the overall fitness, balance, cardio and muscle stabilization of anyone daring enough to climb on these indoor surfboards supported by compressed air. For this course you can also work on pilates tables in circuits designed for optimal results. Go with a group of friends, it's an original activity to try out. Hilarity is assured during your first sessions!
