Did you know there are programs that can help?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is an overview of one of these programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Federal Government\u2019s First-Time Home Buyer Incentive<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For whom?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Eligible first-time home buyers (consult eligibility criteria&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.placetocallhome.ca\/en\/fthbi\/first-time-homebuyer-incentive\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How does it help?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It reduces monthly mortgage payments without adding to your financial burden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What amount can you get?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You could get 5% or 10% (of the home\u2019s purchase price) to put toward a down payment on a new construction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a nutshell, the program offers you a helping hand with your down payment, reducing monthly mortgage payments and helping you qualify for financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As this is a loan, you will, however, have to pay back the government when you sell the property (or after 25 years if the property is not sold before then). The amount to pay back will be calculated based on the resale price prorated according to the initial down payment.
