In the midst of the historic buildings and office towers of Old Montreal, a pleasant, casual spot deserves a detour: <\/span>Les Soeurs Grises Bistro-Brewery<\/a><\/u><\/strong>. Open 5 years, this McGill Street restaurant, a stones\u2019 throw from the Old Port, is the perfect place to throw off your jacket and high heels after a busy day at the office. A favorite spot for employees from Cit\u00e9 Multimedia and business people, the establishment also attracts curious neighbors looking to discover new beers.<\/p>\n\n\n

The warm atmosphere at Les Soeurs Grises is an ideal place to unwind after work.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Warm. This is what comes to mind when looking over the space created by Blazysgerard (Communion, Les Cavistes), sitting in front of a range of house beers offered by Benoit Charbonneau, one of the three partners. You\u2019ll notice a giant <\/span>vintage map of Montreal streets, industrial lights, and wooden shutters, a pattern reminiscent of the district once inhabited by the church (hence the name Les Soeurs Grises – The Grey Nuns) … in short, the place is definitely ready for relaxation and good times with friends and colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n

House Hops and Comfort Food<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We tasted their \u2018hops creations\u2019 in a specific order, just a small taste test. From Marguerite, the sweet blonde with floral aromas, to the IM Batman, a full-bodied black with hints of cocoa, each of the 9 beers at Les Soeurs Grises has its own personality. Just enough to convince us to come back for refreshments on the terrace this summer!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n

On the menu, same philosophy as beers: everything is homemade. Game, sausages, ribs, <\/span>smoked meat, BBQ sauce … even the spice blends! Les Soeurs Grises owe their unique signature not only to their beers, but also their smokehouse that infuses the meat with distinctive flavors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Heart Stopper for Carnivores <\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To accompany our beer, our food was presented on a cedar plank. The perfectly seasoned sausage and creamy sauerkraut were perfectly cooked, followed by creamy tomato cream as well as delicately sweet red bean hummus. Fleshy and generous, the guinea fowl legs also deserve a mention for their cooking perfection.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n
