These Smart are part of \u2018<\/span><u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.car2go.com\/en\/montreal\/\" style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>car2go<\/em><\/strong><\/a><\/u><span style=\"line-height: 1.538em;\">\u2019! Their arrival certainly caught my attention, and I proceeded to enquire about this new car-sharing program in Montreal.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This simple and flexible service made me think of Bixi bikes. Using the&nbsp;<em>car2go <\/em>app or their website, you can simply and easily find a car near you, reserve it, and then park it in a predesignated spot when you are done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>User fees are very affordable, starting at $0.38 per minute of use with a maximum cost of $13.99 for one hour (gas and distance are included in the price). It\u2019s an ideal service for urban dwellers who don\u2019t own a car but sometimes need one at the last minute in order to make an appointment, or for a work emergency, etc\u2026 It\u2019s a new ingredient for Montreal\u2019s cocktail of transport methods, all of which have considerably increased the opportunities for urban travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In terms of the reserved parking for the&nbsp;<em>car2go<\/em>&nbsp;service, it must be noted the Griffintown and Old Montreal sectors are part of a <u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.car2go.com\/common\/data\/locations\/canada\/montreal\/Montreal_car2go_operating_area.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>restricted zone for parking<\/strong><\/a><\/u>. This means that cars can only be taken and returned to a reserved spot, unlike in the unrestricted zones, where the Smart can be parked anywhere.
